This collection of trivial routines allows versioning and labelling to become centralised and consistent.
When working on several machines at the same time, machine information routines become highly valuable as well.

This code is analogous to the retaining of global variables, as well as the extraction of distinctive local settings (IP Address, Host and Domain).
