A voltage-fed buck–boost converter is a DC–DC power converter that operates from a stiff voltage source and is capable of producing an output voltage that is either lower or higher than the input by adjusting the duty cycle. When the duty ratio DDD is below 0.5, the converter operates in buck mode, and when DDD exceeds 0.5, it operates in boost mode. Due to its wide voltage regulation capability, the voltage-fed buck–boost converter is widely used in battery systems, renewable energy interfaces, and DC microgrids.
