Two real distinct roots
Slow, non-oscillatory response
2. Critically damped (ζ=1)
Repeated real root
Fastest non-oscillatory response
3. Underdamped (ζ<1)
Complex conjugate roots
Oscillatory (sinusoidal + exponential decay)
