Reference speed for DC motor

The reference speed (or desired speed) in a DC motor control system is the target rotational speed (in RPM or rad/s)

You are now following this Submission

hy Reference Speed Matters
  • It is the input to a closed-loop speed control system.
  • Compared against the actual motor speed (measured via an encoder or speed sensor).
  • The error signal (difference between reference and actual speed) is processed by a controller (usually a PI or PID controller) to drive the motor accordingly.
