A Half-Bridge DC-DC Converter is a type of isolated converter that efficiently converts one DC voltage level
Key Components of a Half-Bridge DC-DC Converter:
- DC Input Source
- Two High-Speed Switches (typically IGBTs or MOSFETs)
- Two Capacitors in series – act as voltage divider (bias midpoint)
- High-Frequency Transformer – provides isolation and steps voltage up/down
- Output Rectifier (usually two diodes)
- Output Filter (LC filter)
- Controller (PWM driver)
🔄 Operating Principle:
- The two switches (S1 and S2) alternate to apply +Vdc/2 and –Vdc/2 across the transformer primary.
- The transformer converts this AC waveform to desired voltage level.
- On the secondary side, diodes rectify the signal, and an LC filter smooths the output.
- PWM control regulates output voltage.
