Key Components of a Half-Bridge DC-DC Converter:
  1. DC Input Source
  2. Two High-Speed Switches (typically IGBTs or MOSFETs)
  3. Two Capacitors in series – act as voltage divider (bias midpoint)
  4. High-Frequency Transformer – provides isolation and steps voltage up/down
  5. Output Rectifier (usually two diodes)
  6. Output Filter (LC filter)
  7. Controller (PWM driver)
🔄 Operating Principle:
  • The two switches (S1 and S2) alternate to apply +Vdc/2 and –Vdc/2 across the transformer primary.
  • The transformer converts this AC waveform to desired voltage level.
  • On the secondary side, diodes rectify the signal, and an LC filter smooths the output.
  • PWM control regulates output voltage.
