Closed loop of Boost converter with PI controller
Version 1.0.0 (33.1 KB) by
Abdelrahman Farghly
Designing a closed-loop boost converter with a PI controller involves regulating the output voltage
Behavior of the Closed-Loop System
- Load increases → output voltage tends to drop → PI increases duty cycle → inductor stores more energy → output voltage is restored.
- Input voltage drops → similar action: PI compensates by increasing duty cycle.
- Stable voltage regulation with small overshoot and fast settling, depending on tuning.
Benefits of PI Closed-Loop Boost Converter
- Maintains output voltage under disturbances
- Compensates for component aging and drift
- Simple implementation (compared to full PID or adaptive control)
