SEP_MPSK returns the symbol error probability (SEP) for coherent M-ary Phase Shift Keying (M-PSK) in a communication channel.
The function SEP_MPSK determines the phase error probability
of the phase of a vector in Gaussian noise when the reference is noiseless for M-ary PSK communication channels. The method employs a new closed-form analytical solution for arbitrary phase threshold to the Blachmann-Bennett phase error distribution, in terms of signal-to-noise ratio γ,
The new approach employs the incomplete confluent
(incomplete Kummer) hypergeometric function, based on the incomplete beta-Pochhammer,
, for
Incidentally, this is also a solution to the Craig integral
The beta-Pochhammer
,
(when
) is the bivariate counterpart of the single variable Pochhammer,
. Further details and references are given in the help section of SEP_MPSK.
