Simple Idling Engine Model with Fuel Consumption Map

A simple torque-speed based Internal Combustion Engine (I.C.E.) model with a publicly available fuel consumption map.

You are now following this Submission

This is the Simple Idling Engine Model with fuel consumption map that generates an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) average torque as a function of speed. The engine has a loss model designed such that the engine will idle at a desired idle speed. Throttle input from [0 1] are captured with a minimum throttle to ensure the engine outputs enough torque to remain idling.
The model also has a 2D table lookup that estimates fuel consumption as a function of torque and speed. The fuel consumption data is from an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) paper published by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) with experimental fuel consumption data for a Euro-version turbocharged 1.6L Ford EcoBoost Ford Focus engine for MY2013. This fuel consumption data is rarely made public which is what makes the ALPHA paper and data valuable.
