read las file (well log data)
Exports las file with columns of both numbers and characters to Table format. The LAS format is a simple format to exchange well log data.

The LAS format is a simple format to exchange well log data. This function exports las file to a Matlab table format. The existing las readers mainly work if the columns contain numbers only. This version also works with characters in columns. For example, well marker, tops, or fomrations could be stored in las file. It should work for both LAS 2.0 and LAS 3.0 formats.
Not that the output is rather minimal, as it will not export all the enteries in the las header.
