Hello Thingspeak supporter,

I see that the pleaform had updated the MQTT device feature. But I get the issue related to subscribe channel, please check my descripton below:

A Thingspeak device is added with permission of publish and subscribe to a channel. But when starting subscribe, the server disconnected MQTT connection to the device. I'm using MQTTbox tool for testing.

  • MQTT setting ID, username and password (As thingspeak device info)
  • Connect and publish OK
  • MQTT is disconnected when starting subscibe

This issue doesn't appear when I use my old thingpseak account (before adding MQTT device feadure).

Please help me to check. Thank you!

With the updates to the MQTT functionality released in July 2021, you need to make some very minor adjustments to your MQTT subscription. For a quick summary, see details under "July 2021". Remember to click the "> MQTT3 interface" icon to expand the text.

For a more detailed dive into the updated API, please refer to the documentation.

Hi Vinod,

Thank for your info.

I would like to ask more info related to the new release MQTT: "Compatibility Considerations The ThingSpeak MQTT legacy interface will be removed in a future release. You should upgrade your code to take advantage of the new interface. Note that the legacy and MQTT3 interfaces are not compatible. For example, if you use an MQTT device to handle credentials and channel authorization, you must use the new URL."

Does Thingspeak has clear plan for the MQTT legacy removing?

Thank you!

Yes. We are tracking the number of devices using the legacy mqtt service. When a majority of the use appears to be on the new service, we will turn off the legacy system. We definitely intend to give users plenty of notice before we turn off the legacy service.

I'd strongly recommend updating your devices to the new service sooner than later. The changes needed are very minor, as you can see.
