Hi Subha!
We have an 'Awesome MATLAB Hackathons' repository on GitHub that has many resources for hackathon participants, including ML and MATLAB specific resources. You can also reach out to us at hackathon@mathworks.com with some basic information about the event and we can see if there are other ways we can help out.

Hi Subha. It would be helpful if you can share more info about the events, about you, and what you expect from mentors. That might help you get more mentors. The challenge sounds interesting. It would be great if you can share some results or fun projects when the challenge is done.

Hi Chen Lin,
Thank you so much for your interest and thoughtful suggestions. I’d be glad to share a quick overview.
About NASA Space Apps Challenge VNR
NASA Space Apps Challenge is the world’s largest annual global hackathon powered by NASA. It brings together students, technologists, designers, and innovators from across the world to solve real-world challenges using NASA’s open data.
The Virudhunagar (VNR) 2025 edition is hosted by us to inspire and empower young innovators from Tamil Nadu and across India. Participants—mainly undergraduate and postgraduate students in engineering, computer science, and design—will work on challenges in areas such as Earth observation, space technology, climate change, AI, and data science. Our goal is to nurture creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork while giving students exposure to global challenges and the chance to showcase their talent on an international stage.
About Me
I’m Subha Sankareswari V, organizer of NASA Space Apps Challenge Virudhunagar 2025. My mission is to help students become world-class artists, engineers, scientists, and tech professionals by making STEAM education enjoyable, exploratory, and hands-on. Through my initiative iDreams Creative Makers Space, I design STEAM-based learning experiences that blend creativity, design, and Indian heritage with modern science and technology.
What We Expect from Mentors
Mentors play a crucial role in guiding participants. For this year’s challenges, many teams will need to create a prototype or simulation. We would love mentors to support students especially in areas like:
  • AI and MATLAB
  • Machine Learning and MATLAB
  • Simulation, modeling, and prototyping guidance
Your expertise and feedback can make a huge difference in helping students shape their raw ideas into impactful solutions.
I’ll also be happy to share outcomes and some of the fun projects once the challenge concludes.
Warm regards,
Subha
