how to import time/date from excel to matlab and make it comparable as a data?

 Dear members,
I have some data in form of time/date and I want to import the data to matlab and do some math works (comparing and changes)! so my question would be if there is any function or method to do this. I would be so thankful.
these are some of data:
06.09.2012 00:00
06.09.2012 00:10
06.09.2012 00:20
06.09.2012 00:30
06.09.2012 00:40
06.09.2012 00:50

Use xlsread to import your data from Excell file, then use functions like datenum , datestr to manipulate your date data

thanks. there is one problem though, when I use datenum, they change to scientific notations and pretty hard to compare. thanks again.

It's up to you to use datenum or not. There is no indications about what you want to do with your data

I have the same problem.

suppose that you wanna check if you are receiving time data every 10 minutes. In other words, you have to check the date and also the time of input data (I mean comparing them somehow!)

How is that possible? is it possible to check the date and time without converting them to number?! If not, how is it possible to compare these numbers?!
