How to group companies by SIC codes

I have a list containing company names and 2-digit Sic codes. Now I would like to know the number of firms with the respective 2 digit Sic codes. As the 2 digit Sic codes are within different ranges I would like the format of the ouptut be as follows:
2-Digit Sic Code Major Group Number of firms
01-09 Agriculture 5
... ... ...

The discretize function could be appropriate for this.
