How can I see/show the influence of different parameters on my data?

Hello,
I'm looking at showing the influence of the wind on the currents in an estuary. To do that, I need to separate the tidal currents from the wind-driven currents. I have tidal stream predictions along with single point current meter data and wind data for the area of interest and I was wondering how I can show the influence of the wind on the currents by using MATLAB...
Hope you can help me.

Fit a linear model?
If you were looking for something else, could you elaborate on the problem a bit? What are you predictors and response. Seems to me like you have tidal currents and wind currents, what relationship are you trying to represent here?

I don't have the wind-driven currents, it's what I am looking for... Basically, I would like to remove the tidal parameter from the current data in order to obtain the residual current that would represent the wind-driven current... Hope this clarifies.
I don't have the wind background, and I am finding it hard to understand with the jargons. Would it be possible for you to break up the definition interms of statistics and data? For example I have 2 vectors of 1000 observations and would like to find a relation ship between this and another sample etc. Its not really clear what tidal parameter and current data is.
If not you someone else on the forum who has your background may answer your question.
I'll try... So I have 2 types of current data: tidal currents for July which are predicted for every 5 minutes and (total) current data measured at different time (not regular though). The total current data includes the tidal currents but also the current induced by the wind. Therefore, I would like to find the relation between the tidal currents and the total current in order to remove the tidal currents component from the total current data and get the residual current.
Hope this helps.
