Matlab GUI static text function CreateFcn (write string to)

Hi,

I'd like to write something to the field upon creation, although contents are static. I just want to have it's contents in .m file instead of .fig. (for maintenance purposes).

I can not use set(handles.text... since handles are not created until all CreateFcns are called. Doesn't like axes where I can do imshow().

Is it possible to do so?
