control VNA hp 8722d with matlab

HI

I am trying to comunicate with th VNA with matlab. I installed io_Agilent libraries. the connection between VNA and PC is GPIB/usb.

I have a matlb version 2012b without instrument toolbox. i found in the matlab help a function gpib() for the comunication. but i requires the intrument toolbox. is there any other possibility or other function to do so without the toolbox.

do i need a matlab driver for the VNA ?
