Assigning response label to target and distractor in a trial

I want the letter x to appear beside the target object and letter y to appear beside the distractor so that after viewing the two objects, subjects can decide whether the target or the distractor was previously seent at the study phase by pressing x or y key where x stands for target and y stands for the distractor. The position of the target and distractor were randomised on each trial and I want target to always be identified with letter x and distractor letter y. Do I need to drawFormattedText bearing in mind the target rest. I,m not sure if I need to define a rect for the label x and y and then subtract it from the target and/or distractor rect. Any assistance will be welcomed.
