Stereo image overlay for different resolution cameras

I have two cameras on the same platform. I know the internal and external parameters. I need to overlay their input images on top of each other. However I cannot use rectifyStereoImages function since two cameras have different resolutions.
What is the best way to overlay the images from these different resloution cameras?
