Java out of memory error

i am using matlab 7.While importing data using 'uiimport',matlab throws java outof memory error.I searched online for solutions.One of solutions says to create java.opts file,copy to rootlibrary of matlab. i could able to create java.opts file.. but which location to copy.In case write access not available a tha location..what can be done..

A simpler solution that might help (but which you may have tried already) is to go to the menu MATLAB --> Preferences --> General --> Java Heap Memory, and max that out. You'll need to restart MATLAB for that to take effect, I believe.

In Matlab7 preferences this option is not available.
