RPM control of Motor Using PID

How to get transfer Function of a DC motor,Than controlling its Rpm with PID controller..How to make that PID?..Is simple Feedback better Than PID..?And can We use Discrete Control for These Motors??? what are the Advantages of each Individual Control and what are the Demerits of Each.
