separating an x-ray image

Dear All can anyone help me? i have attached down below a preapical image (an x-ray of teeth), i am looking to separat these teeth so i can process each tooth separately. specifically, i want to have four images for four teeth extracted from the orginal image. then combine them agian after the processing done on them. is there an algorithm would do this procedure? thanks in advance
