GUI find files in a folder by using letter and numbers that the user can input

Hello, I recently tried to do this with appdesigner and it worked but other options did not work. Now I have stepped over to GUI. The GUI lets the user select the folder with all the data files it needs. The files in the folder all start with 2 or 3 letters followed by numbers. I want the user to be able to type in the necessary letters and numbers and let MATLAB use this file for further analysis.
