I am currently doing some stuff in matlab but the command window is separated from the window that shows the workspace and command history. How do I get everything to show in one display?

In the top-right of the window (in the menu bar) you should see a little curved arrow pointing down and right. Click that and it should dock the command window in your MatLab environment.

You can then grab their title bars and drag them to new locations if you want it to be in some other place than the default "docked" location. If you drag a panel onto another panel, then both panels will be in the same place with tabs on top to select which panel will be the visible panel.
