Convert FTIR spectral image from .mat to .dat

I have a data cube of an FPA FTIR spectral image in *.mat file format. I want to convert it to agilent variant image data *.dat format to be read by Resolution Pro. I am using the ENVI file reader/writer toolbox. However, the produced file is not readable by the software. Is this the correct toolbox to use? What is the structure of the complex 3-D variable that should be passed to the enviwrite function? I am assuming that my problem is with this point. I don't think that I am using the correct structure for the the spectral data object.
