Distance from Major Peak to next consecutive maxima/minima

Sorry for asking a basic question but I am a bit stuck with this and not been using Matlab for long. Basically I have a lot of data relating to a set of signals (wave patterns), I basically need to find the distance from the maximum peak of the data to the next consecutive maximum and the distance to the next consecutive minimum. I have tried using findpeaks and other functions but does not seem to be working, if someone can help out that would be appreciated.
