Hi all, How to add symbolic variables like alpha, theta in Figure axis?

N = 10 ;
A = rand(10,2) ;
plot(A(:,1),A(:,2),'r') ;
xlabel('\alpha')
ylabel('\theta')

it is showing this error: Undefined function or variable 'xticks'
