matlab coder not installing

For fun I tried installing Matlab coder. But it doesn't seem to install (Linux 14.04) even though there's c compilers and everything. when I execute 'license('test', 'MATLAB_Coder') ' it returns '1' so the coder is there somewhere but it isn't in the apps menu, and typing 'coder' or loading the demos returns 'Undefined function or variable 'coder'.

Have tried reinstalling but nothing changes.
