Variable Names as Block Inputs

Is there a way to name a variable and then use that name as an input to another block in Simulink. For example, if you wanted to model a voltage-controlled-oscillator, you could name the voltage source 'VCO' and then use 'VCO' as the frequency or amplitude in a sine wave block.
