Is there a way to share MATLAB figs with someone who doesn't have MATLAB?

I want to send someone a 3-D MATLAB plot and I want them to be able to rotate it and move objects like the colorbar. Is that possible if they do not have MATLAB?

If you have the MATLAB Compiler, you could make a small standalone application for them for figure viewing.

I think I can do that, but is there another way? If not, that's OK. I've been having some difficulty with the MATLAB Compiler, but I can figure it out if it's the only option.

Not that I can think of. Maybe the .fig files can be read using Octave or some similar free clone of MATLAB?
