Auto-reflow app is resizing my panels

I'm making an app in appdesigner with the 3-panel auto-reflow template and I'm having an issue where the panels resize themselves in unwanted ways. In the picture below, you can see that borders between the center and right panel are no longer touching:
Nothing I do to adjust the panel size is putting them back together.
Problem: Every time I open appdesigner and adjust that right-panel size, it will increase the space between the two panels by shrinking the center panel. This makes visual editing of components in that center panel increasingly difficult. The image above is just an example - my actual app's center panel has shrunk to about 1/3 of the space and is very difficult to use.
When I run the app, that odd spacing goes away, and the app looks normal. The issue is mainly with editing.
It's hard to figure out exactly how to reproduce this issue, but it's some combination of these steps:
  1. Ceate a new app with the 3-panel auto-reflow template
  2. Add some components to each panel (I'm using grid layouts, in case that affects anything)
  3. Resize the panels by pulling on the borders and corner
  4. Save/Run/Close the app
  5. Close appdesigner
  6. Reopen the app in appdesigner - thats when I get the separation.
Any ideas on why this is happening and how to fix it?

I have also had this issue a few times, including right now. Same scenario, I put a load of components on my first panel, an axes on my second panel. All was fine, until I didn't like the look of the components in the first panel and wanted them to have a bit more space. I dragged on the left side of the app in Design view to resize it and it apparently stretched out the lept panel without changing the right one (which was fine), so the whole app got wider.
But then when I came back to it after I get a mess with the panels like below (I just scribbled out private information, nothing important). The blue arrows point to where the right panel sits, it is shifted left so it overlaps the first panel, leaving a gap on the right hand side where it should be.
Like the original poster, when I run the app it looks correct, but it's hard to do the design work like this, when my components are partially covered.

Weirdly, after goodness knows how many restarts of both app designer and Matlab (certainly not just 1 restart), I open it again now and it magically sorted itself out!
I'm still finding a lot of these type of bugs in App Designer that make it infuriating to use though (R2024a).
