Miter Joins in Matlab 2014b

I am having an issue similar to that shown here where lines look rough using Matlab 2014b. The suggested solution to that problem is to post-process an .eps file.
Is there a more efficient way to work around this issue?
Has this issue been fixed in 2015a?
