How to find the initial orientation field from an overlapped fingerprint image using DFT ?

I have an overlapped fingerprint image. I have to separate out the two overlapped fingerprints in to component finger print. I have applied DFT to overlapped part of an image. I got the magnitude and phase plot. I have a difficulty in getting the values for amplitude, frequency, phase and orientation from magnitude and phase plot; for plotting the sine wave for finding the initial orientation. Could any one please help me for finding this initial orienation of an overlapped fingerprint image.
