How to use SVM for character Recognition in Matlab R2014a?

I read the Matlab Answers "How to use SVM in matlab for character recognition?" from http://in.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/177194-how-to-use-svm-in-matlab-for-character-recognition. I think that Dima Lisin's reply will be helpful and forwarded to the site "http://www.mathworks.com/help/vision/examples/digit-classification-using-hog-features.html". It contains the functions like imageset which are available only in Matlab R2014b. But I had only Matlab R2014a. Is it any method available to execute it in matlab R2014a? Thanks Brindha.S
