Retrieve cartesian coordinates from a 3D shape surface

is there a way to retrieve coordinates from a 3D or even 2D shape.
ie. an array of coordinates
[0,5,0; x1,y1,z1, etc]
ellipsoid(0,-0.5,-0,6,3.25,20)
axis equal
zlim([0.0 20])
obviously the question might be is this considered meshing?
and how refined can it be?
I'd really like to be able to find all the XYZ for a given shape.
many thanks for any advice!

Call ellipsoid with outputs,
[X,Y,Z] = ellipsoid(xc,yc,zc,xr,yr,zr)

wow thanks, that worked well.
Thats probably enough to get me going.
Any chance its possible to affect the distribution of each face, ie. make them roughly the equivalent area.
The faces at the top, are very detailed (as they would be to make the curve)
Anyways, big thanks!
