Free molecular diffusion following Fick's first law in 2D plane.

I am trying to simulate the free diffusion of two molecules with different diffusion coefficient on a 2D plane to look at diffusion time difference. I found PDE tool box should be very useful but it's so expensive. I wonder are there other ways doing it?
