Shamili - please provide some context to your question. Why do you want the blocks to be irregularly sized? How do you choose the sizes? Perhaps include the algorithm that you would like to see implemented and discuss what problems you are experiencing in trying to code it up.

To extract a block, do this:

subImage = grayImage(row1:row2, column1:column2);

You can change the values of row1, row2, column1, and column2 whenever you want to make the blocks "irregularly" sized.
