What are the effective face recognition algorithms?

I've used PCA(Principal Component Analysis) algorithm but it also recognized other faces if the required one is not available. Sometimes wrong recognition also occurs. I don't know what is the problem and I wanna know other algorithms if available. Thanks in advance.
