How to set default value for axes properties?

In Matlab 2014b, I set default value for axes minor tick as,
set(groot, 'defaultAxesXMinorTick','on');
or
set(0, 'defaultAxesXMinorTick','on');
Both commands donot work when I create a new figure.
The second command is a typical setting for default axes value for prior version, but it can't function in new Matlab2014b.
So how to solve it?
