How to display progress of fminbnd in Matlab GUI?

How can i display the progress of fminbnd in a Matlab GUI? As this function takes some time to calculate it would be nice to display the progress so the user knows that it is running. Has anyony an idea how to implement that?
At the moment i display a static text when it starts and set the visible of this text to off after its finished.

Use the OutputFcn or PlotFcn input options.
