How to restore simulink model from the subsystem?

Once I create a subsystem I can view the underlying model by double clicking on the system. But what if I want to have the original model in place of the subsystem, How to achieve it?

Hello Gautam, you can expand the subsystem. This feature was introduced with R2014a.

I am using r2012a, and I can't see Subsystem ans model reference option in the context menu when I right click the subsystem. In which version was this functionality added?

So, there's no way I can restore it other that usual copy paste. Is it so?

Correct. There are no work-arounds as far as I am aware of.
