Clustering machines for improved performances

Hi everyone,
Is it possible to cluster different machines together on a LAN and then run Matlab on one of them, using all the CPU's available on every node ? I have heard about functions like RemoteHost, so it looks like it is possible.
Do i need to install Matlab on every node ? Or do i need everyone to have the same OS ? If you have information/tutorial let me know !
I am using R2014a with PCT.
