multiply to matrix with strings

hi everyone
how to multiply a matrix like
a =
1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8
9 10 11 12
13 14 15 16
and
b =
(1*x)
(2+x)
(3*5x)
(4*x^2)
and answer shown with 'x'
