how can I associate a signal with one address in simulink?

hi,

does anyone know how should I do if I want to implement in simulink a message flow. i mean I have to send a message and according with this message to transmit/ create a response. The question is if it's ok to construct a function block witch will return the message ( a hexa bit stream) or I have to build the messages packing the frames. thank you
