I could use the 'winvideo' adaptor in matlab 2013b. Just upgraded to 2014a and typed 'imaqhwinfo' and installedadaptors field is empty.

They have to be (separately) installed now, using the support package installer (which is included with MATLAB). Please see here for the instructions on how to do so:

Best way to solve this ---> if the usb webcam doesnt wanna install winvideo but you just have webcam, so you absolutely should choose : Image Acquisition Toolbox Support Package for "OS Generic Video Interface". This is the answer.
This Image Acquisition is suit running on > Matlab2014

If you are using R2014a or later, you need to install Image Acquisition Toolbox Support Package for OS Generic Video; see https://www.mathworks.com/help/imaq/installing-the-support-packages-for-image-acquisition-toolbox-adaptors.html
