Warning with MutliStart

Hi, I'm using MultiStart to search the minimun of a smooth function. I use fminunc as a solver, with 3 parameters to estimate. But when I run it with 10 try, I get this warning :

Warning: Internal t = 0.84265 and h = 3.19699e-19 are such that t + h = t on the next step. The solver will continue anyway.

What does that mean? Does that influence the result?

This means that h is too small to have an effect. Is there a method to limit the minimal step size or to provide initial step size of an adequate length?
