How to transform irregular-shaped region into an equivalent circle
Show older comments
Hi;
I am trying to transform irregular shaped regions in an image into an equivalent circle. How can I do so?
I need this for further analysis of the images and this is just an intermediate yet crucial step.
Thanks;

How is the "equivalence" defined?

Not sure what that means. But you can use regionprops() in the Image Processing Toolbox to get the Area, Perimeter, and Equivalent Circular Diameter. See my Image Segmentation Tutorial for a demo. Then you can use rectangle to plot a circle in the overlay, or use the FAQ to make a circle in an image: http://matlab.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ#How_do_I_create_a_circle.3F
