how to convert particular location of the image in to black ?

shall use image crop and copy position for this or what method i can try to change particular location in an image in to black

yourImage(row1:row2, col1:col2) = 0; % If it's Monochrome
yourImage(row1:row2, col1:col2, :) = 0; % If it's Color
