What are the features extracted from an image for recognition ?

I want to extract features from the sclera ( white part of the eye) for sclera recognition.please tell me what are the features that can be extracted ?

What do you need? You could possibly get overall mean intensity or color, LAB or HSV color, area, perimeter, standard deviation, skew, kurtosis, uniformity (entropy), area fraction of blood vessels, number of spots/defects, etc. Plus there's all those things that regionprops measures that I didn't even mention.
