Latency problems with BeagleBoard in acquiring and display modes

Hello,

I use BeagleBoard-xM and Simulink target package. When i build a simple model with V4L2 Video Capture block connected to SDL Video Display block (both from Simulink BB library) it runs, acquires from webcam and puts out to display .....but with a very high latency during execution (about 0.5 seconds).

I noticted that it runs any process under linux OS GUI and i think this slows the display mode execution. Is there a way to send video signal and to watch it without whole linux environment (raw)? Or, must i let it loads linux for show something in the display ?
