Concatening symbols and strings on axis label

Hi, I want to create an axis label with a symbol in it, particularly a dot above the character, but I also want some words in the label. I know about the

...('$\dot{d}$','interpreter','latex')

to create a single character, but was curious about how to add some words to the front or end of it. Thanks.
